Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what data the Dartel app (iOS, Android and the browser version at dartel.app/play) and the website dartel.app collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Dartel is made by Limosa Software in the Netherlands. If you have questions about your data, email info@dartel.app.

Playing without an account

You can play Dartel without signing in. The first time you open the app we create an anonymous guest account for you. It has a random ID and a generated name like "Player 4821", which you can change. We don't ask for your name, email address or phone number.

If you later choose to save your progress with Google or Apple, we link that sign-in to your guest account. We then receive the name, email address and profile picture that Google or Apple share with us (with Apple you can hide your email address).

What we store

  • Account: your user ID, display name, sign-in method (guest, Google or Apple) and, for linked accounts, your email address and profile picture.
  • Games: the games you play (mode, darts thrown, scores, time), and what follows from them: XP, level, badges, streaks, personal bests, daily challenge results and duels.
  • Social: likes you give, and the duels you create or accept.
  • Device: a push notification token, your device language (to send notifications in your language) and the platform (iOS, Android or web).
  • Settings: your notification and game preferences.

What other players can see

Your display name, level and scores appear on leaderboards, in the feed and in duels. Anyone with a duel link you share can see your name and score for that duel. Your email address is never shown to other players.

Why we use this data

To run the game: save your games and progress, show leaderboards and duels, and keep your account across devices once you link it. To send notifications you can switch off, such as streak reminders and duel results. To understand how the app is used and fix crashes. And to show ads, which keep Dartel free.

Services we use

  • Firebase by Google (Authentication, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging): sign-in, usage statistics, crash reports and push notifications. Firebase privacy
  • Google AdMob: ads in the app. On iOS, ads are only personalised if you allow tracking in the system prompt; otherwise you see non-personalised ads. How Google uses data
  • Google Analytics on dartel.app and in the browser version: page visits and button clicks.
  • DigitalOcean (Amsterdam): hosts our servers and database.

All data is sent over encrypted connections. We don't sell your data.

How long we keep it

As long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your account, games, duels, likes, notifications, device tokens, settings and your sign-in at Firebase. Crash reports and analytics data are kept by Firebase for a limited period according to Google's retention settings.

Deleting your account

In the app, open Profile → Delete account and confirm. This removes all the data listed above straight away. Can't open the app any more? Email info@dartel.app from the address linked to your account, or include your display name, and we'll delete it for you. More on deleting your account.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, and you can object to how we use it. Email info@dartel.app. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Children

Dartel is not aimed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update it on this page and change the date below.
